Petit Manseng 2019

Our 2019 Petit Manseng pops out of the glass with aromas of toasted coconut, fresh almond, dried pineapple and a hint of cardamom. The palate, clearly benefiting from the 2019 vintage’s long, dry summer, clearly articulates a fresh fig and quince paste as well as a light spice. The wine’s balance is lovely with the wine’s intense acidity balanced by a moderately high residual sugar and a lingering finish.  The grapes and the site decided the residual sugar as we harvested these grapes at almost 27 brix with a pH of 3.2 that we were hanging the fruit to so that we could have some sugar acid balance.

Winemaker Notes
Petit Manseng is a white wine grape that originates in the Jurancon (Jur-an-son) region of southwestern France, where it is highly regarded. Wines made from this variety in Jurancon are typically of exceptionally high quality and can be very aromatic suggestive of tropical fruits such as pineapple, passion fruit, mango, apricot and candied citrus fruits. The grape has a loose cluster and thick skin which is perfect to withstand the humid conditions found in Virginia.
