The Vintner’s Reserve is made through an intense sampling process of all of the barrels in the cellar to decide the perfect master blend. The 2013 Vintage of VR had a lengthy barrel ageing regime that we have recently implemented at Veritas.  The vision of the finished wine is determined by the potential of its parts, and when putting the wine together Emily was really looking for structure and ageability. 

VR is comprised of  35% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 25% Petit Verdot and 10% Malbec.  It is deep ruby red in color and the bouquet is a delicate balance of cherry, chocolate and fresh cigar box enveloped in an aroma of fresh black fruit. Luscious flavors of cherry unfold with rich yet assertive tannins on the palate leaving a structured and elegant finish accentuated with complex flavors of vanilla, caramel and mocha from barrel aging. 

The 2013 VR spent 15 months in French oak (primarily new barrels), which adds more richness and balance to stand further cellaring. Drink now or age beautifully until 2023. VR is a perfect wine to enjoy with any red meat from Filet Mignon to Rib Eye, Venison or lamb. It is also a great compliment to pasta with flavorful red sauce.
